Opening Post: Armageddon

Let me open this blog on my birthday with a few predictions against next year, not as a prophet, but as a student of Political Science, Babcock University

Buhari is going to win this election, but it won't lead to significant development. Goodluck is no saint either, but a major mistake Nigeria would make is giving unchecked power to the APC. The PDP has been thoroughly challenged and would be ousted due to facing a strong opposition. If both Lagos, the nation's economic hub, and the federal government fall under APC control, who will provide the necessary checks and balances?

Buhari's first regime has often been credited with progress, but this recognition is misplaced. It was his Vice, Idiagbon, who deserves the credit. If Buhari was truly a formidable force, why was it Idiagbon, and not Buhari, who was assassinated? All Buhari did was promote his fanaticism, and he may do so again. The Muslims are divided between those who partake in, and justify the attack of Christians (either through bloodshed or segregation), and those who oppose it. While I can't state publicly which faction of Islam Buhari aligns with, it's important to note the general pattern: Yoruba Muslims may target Christians if given the opportunity, and Hausa Muslims would align with them. But if Christians are eliminated, the Hausa would target the Yoruba Muslims, with the Fulani Muslims at the top of this hierarchy. Putting Buhari, a Fulani, in power would have serious repercussions.

Under Buhari’s rule, attacks by Fulani militants would be met with silence from the armed forces. However, any retaliation from the victims would prompt swift action from the military. During Yaradua's tenure, many Christian military personnel faced early and compulsory retirement. Goodluck attempted to address this, but his efforts were insufficient. Expect to see a resurgence of such policies under Buhari, not just in the military but across various sectors.

Economically, Buhari lacks the expertise to govern effectively. While Goodluck may not complete a second term, the APC will likely learn from his mistakes. One of these errors was permitting too much freedom of speech.

We are in for a tumultuous period. I hope that after these eight years, we start to make decisions as educated and well-informed citizens. If we continue to suffer while making poor choices, Buhari's era could just be the beginning of a downward spiral until we no longer have a choice.

Keep in mind that the office of the Apostles has ceased, yet many will emerge, claiming to be Apostles and prophets, exploiting our desperate circumstances to offer appealing messages and build a platform for themselves. And the surprising part? People will flock to them! If true biblical faith has been proven over and over to transform societies and uproot evil practices, then when these false teachers abound and people's minds become more and more shut, I hope this question can spark something 🙏
