A popular Misquote

3 John 1:2 (KJV)  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. This is a salutation, a greeting from one brother. He isn't teaching wealth or health prosperity here.  Let's attempt to understand the heart of John in this passage. "Beloved" (loved ones, those dear to my heart). "I wish" (I'm not commanding or saying it's a fact. It's a strong desire). "Above all things" (of the many desires I have for you, this one is the greatest. I don't desire that your soul would be saved from sin and committed to God, because that has already happened. I rejoice continually over that because that's the reason for which Christ came, and I'm glad to know you're the one of the reasons [Look at verse 3-5] . So as regarding material things, this are the ones I desire the most). "that thou mayest prosper" ( I desire that you have material possession in abundanc

THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST JUNGLE JUSTICE

Image
THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST JUNGLE JUSTICE. Marilyn Oma Anona, a young Nigerian woman talk show host, public speaker, media and social entrepreneur leads the campaign against jungle justice in Nigeria. First, what is jungle justice? Jungle justice or mob justice is a form of public extrajudicial killings in Sub-Saharan Africa, most notably Nigeria and Cameroon, where an alleged criminal is humiliated, beaten or summarily executed by a crowd or vigilantes. These victims are not given fair hearing, and at the end of the day many of them are innocent. The most worrisome aspect of this practice is that people gather and look on as though it is a blockbuster Stage performance. The spectators are as guilty. We all expressed our pains and disappointment at xenophobia. I ask, what is he difference between xenophobic attacks and jungle justice? Jungle justice over the past few years have increased at an alarming rate. Daily, people are killed. Statistics state that more th

CANINE SELECTIVE BREEDING

This article was developed by a veteran breeder, and I agree with the content wholeheartedly. Author : AbdulKareem Ahmed Topic    : Selective Breeding ‎ Mating Pedigree dogs Is a step in the right direction because you're promoting and maintaining purity. You've left the stage where you might be populating nuisance and devaluing the breed.. it's a good start to go for only Pedigrees and discourage mutts in the society... But all that is not enough! There is a breed standard for each dog, and ‎ "when a dog doesn't  conform to the breed standard *it loses it's reputation as a member of that breed*" Beyond that, you're not just trying to conform your dog to the breed standard you're trying to beautify it to the best you can.. Still within the breed standard, To achieve this you do what is called "Selective Breeding. Based on what was said about "Reputation" we can also say  "it loses its credibility" .... This is whe

UNBELIEF

Few months ago, a dear friend told me of his father's ill health by stating that his father was "strong.” Understanding this familiar language, I asked to know how ill his health was, but he kept replying by 'confessing' good things about the situation. Meanwhile, unknown to me, his condition was deteriorating, and I only once mouthed a quick prayer for him. Then, a few months later, he reported with bitter lament that his father had died. His anger began to grow God-ward, and my concern for my bereaved friend doubled. He had “refused to believe the report of the doctors” because he was “not going to focus on the negative,” hence the reason he told me his father was strong and that all was well. Friends, the truth of the fact of the reality (whichever word suits your semantics), was that all was not well, and admitting what the problem was didn't mean he lacked confidence in God's ability to heal His father. By the way, had he been real with me about the co
